Aspiring entrepreneurs are invited to apply to the 2023 Business Planning Cohort.​

This July, we launched our third annual neighborhood business planning cohort in northwest Indianapolis. The program runs for 12 months and is designed to connect aspiring entrepreneurs and startups with coaching, mentoring, and other resources that develop a comprehensive business plan and company brand.

This program is both rigorous and fast-paced. We anticipate entrepreneurs dedicating a minimum of 30 hours per month to successfully complete the program. Classes are held online and coaching/mentoring sessions are in person.​ Topics include but are not limited to:

• Defining your business model, identifying market opportunities, and understanding competition. SWOT Analysis 

• Marketing, product/service development, brand development. Building a StoryBrand. 

• Company structure – leadership, staffing and HR, operations, systems and technology.  

• Risk Management and Budgeting 

• Accounting – financial statements, budget monitoring. Finance – equity investments, loans, other funding. 

Scholarships have been awarded to nine northwest residents.

Thanks to the generosity of Crooked Creek Northwest CDC and its funding partners, National Urban League/Indianapolis Urban League and St. Luke's United Methodist Church, full and partial scholarships were awarded to nine minority-owned small business owners or aspiring entrepreneur. 

To receive access to small business prizes, pro bono legal support, coaching and mentorship, participates commit to attending 75% of all sessions including monthly group sessions and one-on-one meetings with a business coach and mentor. They must also commit to completing 100% of assignments on time.
